It made me wonder does she have H1N1 or was she afraid of getting it. It became obvious to me (duh) since she was walking around gathering goodies for her basket that she must be afraid of us, the other aliens walking around. It sure looked creepy. A scary thought, will we all have to wear masks someday for protection against disease? Also, will we all have to become pistol packin' Mommas again for self protection? Wen I got dressed I saw a red spot and really believed I was bleeding because she squeezed me so darn hard. I took a second look and remembered, I have a mole, there was no blood, only a red marker. I had visions of going to the Operating Room.
A shooting, an explosion; I had no clue but it was close by. I looked out the window and no one is frantically running around; the night felt calm even though it was raining or I would have gone to investigate. Finally, I saw some trucks with lifts and large lights shining up a utility pole. It must have been a transformer or some other electrical outage, but I did have lights which was odd. It wasn't until much later I found out, to my dismay, that I had NO CABLE connection. Yup, no TV, no computer. What do I do now? It was truly amazing to find out that I was lost without that connection. I bet most moms would be soooo happy to have peace and QUIET. Well, for me, it was much too quiet and then I got really worried because I couldn't watch my favorite show "Dancing with the Stars". Totally bummed, I went to bed; took a book. Click, click, I tried the TV remote. There it was, the snowy screen gone and I was hearing a voice. Yes, I got to watch my favorite Monday night program. All is well.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." He meant the Berlin Wall which was erected to divide Germany into East and West after WWII and stopped families and friends from seeing each other or even split families in half.

I lived in East Germany and remember that West Germany and the United States were off limits to me and that life was better there. So this is a day in history which affected me personally. Today I can travel freely to see everyone in Germany. I am thankful.

Why are you grateful? Please share a day or time in your life.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300770211970253108.post-53549020813039779272009-10-20T16:43:00.002-04:002009-10-20T16:55:12.352-04:00TUESDAYS DISCOVERYOh my, oh my.......it was quite the trip. Almost like going to the Sahara dessert to get Middle Eastern food and condiments. But, I found a neat Deli where I can find all the ingredients to make anything. You see, my children are quite a cultural mix; half German and half Lebanese. They learned very young to eat the various dishes and foods from both countries, except I am the German and only learned a minimal amount from my mother-in-law. I was hard pressed to provide these tastes for their palate, until today. Now I can provide a tasty treat on occasion. Making my way through traffic, I also tried to find a German bakery to no avail. Tough to drive while watching the highway and strip malls at the same time. Consequently, no baked goodies today. But, I am content with the discovery I made today.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300770211970253108.post-75454279246007979282009-10-18T16:45:00.001-04:002009-10-18T16:45:51.630-04:00DISCOVERYI am starting to like upscale Flea Markets. No, I don't want to be a shopper; I want to be a vendor. I love the whole world of talking to many people; maybe I have shut myself in for too long reminiscing instead of forging ahead and discovering a whole lot more of what is. Everyone has a story and many people are willing to share their individual histories and what makes them unique. I am beginning to understand how self limiting I have been by being selective, secretive and just plain worried about what people think of me. All of a sudden, I don't care. No, I'm not into snobs, just plain folks who live on this planet with me.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300770211970253108.post-63198508974361601522009-10-03T15:48:00.000-04:002009-10-03T15:48:01.244-04:00Lovely SaturdayA suns bright rays warming my body all over, a sparkling pool of water to jump into for a refreshing dip, a tangy cool drink. Nature all around me, tall palms swaying softly in the breeze, beautiful white egrets strutting across a well manicured lawn and birds singing happily in the nearby trees, perhaps trying to send a message to their mate or only singing for joy.
I hear it. I feel it. I am in the NOW, banishing all other thoughts for a while to appreciate what is, right now.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300770211970253108.post-73340900606537556052009-09-24T12:44:00.000-04:002009-09-24T12:44:09.076-04:005 Words That Change EverythingLife is forever changing....here are my five words for life changes....what are yours?
I called the maintenance man to report that the garbage disposal was grinding severely. He arrived soon thereafter. I did take a flashlight before he came and looked to make sure there was nothing that I dropped which may have gotten caught. Nothing there, good. As he shone his flashlight down the sink and used a fancy tool, up he came with one of my blue bottle caps. Was I embarrassed, of course, as I said: "I looked and never saw it". I also told him: "I always look before I panic since I dropped my diamond ring down there and fished it out". Somehow my look must have let him know that this was a joke and we both laughed. I asked him kindly to just send the bill to the landloard and please don't tell him exactly what happened. He gave me his word and said he was never here. Now that's a good guy.
I don't believe someone is waking me up at 7 a.m. True story. I am sooo tired of everyone getting me up before I am ready. I went to work for a looooong time and was up at 6 a.m. It is the guy who is supposed to check out the leak in the roof at the the condo, which I am only renting. He arrives and I can't wait to tell him, "You woke me up with your call". I really think I'm justified telling him this, because I thought it was way too early but his reply was: "Well, if you wanna catch a golfer, you gotta get 'em early or you're 'outta luck". Guess what pal, I'm not a golfer and 7 a.m. is an obnoxious time to call anyone to make an appointment. So much for getting extra shut eye. I hope tomorrow morning I can decide when to put my toes on the floor. Just think of me as another human being full of great stuff and faults. I cry when I laugh and find it hard to laugh when I cry.

Oh, about today, up at 8:45 a.m. and already disgusted with the lawnmowers running outside, debris blowers, shrub clippers and all the hoopla that goes with property maintenance. Oops, the 'phone, I answer only to find the caller gone. I'm hitting the wrong buttons. Then I deleted the caller. It was the landlord. I need coffee; phew, now I can figure out what I'm doing wrong with this new cell 'phone and come to a conclusion as to why I delete all my callers when I end a call.

I'm thinking, oh, I do have his number. "Hi Paul, sorry, we are playing 'phone tag." I'm not telling him what I did.

Dang, I have to read the instruction book. I don't learn too well reading. It's hands on for me. Push, push those buttons, but I'll read it. I'm thinking, no one will ever know how stupid I feel except for people reading my blog. Oh please, don't feel bad for this grandma; she gets to sleep late and have sweet dreams about her family.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300770211970253108.post-18224437696093973582009-09-13T14:51:00.001-04:002009-09-13T14:52:06.738-04:00It's My First TimeBlogging that is.
My daughter and granddaughter came to visit. We decided to go to lunch. Naturally, it was pouring as soon as we were ready to leave the restaurant, although it was beautifully sunny when we left the house. I took my shoes off running to the car. Oh, how wonderful it is to run in the rain again barefoot. This time I didn't play in the puddles as I did as a child. Get wet? who cares. Family time is more important than wet clothes.Omix4http://www.blogger.com/profile/10432916121130158200noreply@blogger.com5
