Today I feel like a jerk. I called the maintenance man to report that the garbage disposal was grinding severely. He arrived soon thereafter.  I did take a flashlight before he came and looked to make sure there was nothing that I dropped which may have gotten caught. Nothing there, good.  As he shone his flashlight down the sink and used a fancy tool, up he came with one of my blue bottle caps. Was I embarrassed, of course, as I said: "I looked and never saw it". I also told him: "I always look before I panic since I dropped my diamond ring down there and fished it out". Somehow my look must have let him know that this was a joke and we both laughed. I asked him kindly to just send the bill to the landloard and please don't tell him exactly what happened. He gave me his word and said he was never here. Now that's a good guy.

"One thing you learn the hard way, is that there is no easy way"

  1. That does sound like a good guy! Garbage disposals are tricky, don't be embarrassed. I get nervous to get my hand too close because I worry about getting hurt! I've never had one before, so I think it may take me awhile to get over that fear, but it's much easier now! :)
